APS Itinera Romanica, Amici del Romanico

About us

APS "Itinera Romanica – Amici del Romanico" was founded in 2012 as an international cultural association, following the experience gained through the ITERR-COST project (Romanesque Itineraries and Networks in Corsica, Sardinia, Tuscany).

Its establishment aimed to consolidate and expand the original partnership and open it to contributions from similar associations within the European Union and the Mediterranean, as well as institutions working in the field. The project created a network connecting Romanesque sites in these regions, which share strong historical and artistic ties.

The association promotes Romanesque heritage through excursions, conferences, and presentations on medieval art, architecture, and history. Some activities, like excursions, are reserved for members, while others are open to the public, including the now-traditional "Pomeriggi del Romanico" in collaboration with the Diocesan Museum of Oristano and the University of Cagliari.

Other activities for the public include book presentations, publications, and educational workshops for schools and libraries.

Since 2023, the president of the association is art historian Giuseppina Deligia. Vice President is architect Maura Falchi. The secretary is Mario Piscedda, and treasurer is Giorgio Garau. Other board members: Marisa Deias, Antonello Figus, Rossana Martorelli, Gianni Mocci, Silvia Oppo, Angelica Perria.

European Projects

The association was born from the European project Itinera Romanica (ITERR-COST), which promoted a network of Romanesque sites in Sardinia, Corsica, and Tuscany through shared cultural itineraries.

This was followed by the project Itinera Romanica+, which expanded the network and improved access to Romanesque sites by creating thematic routes, five of which are in Sardinia.

Starting in 2025, the project RomaniCap will further enhance and consolidate these results, aiming to integrate the itineraries into local tourism systems.
